"Where's Arnold?"

68.2 miles from Stockton
318.4 miles from Los Angeles
51.0 miles from South Lake Tahoe
Along the Highway 4 corridor, with an elevation of approximately 3900 feet and a population of 4218 people nestled in the "Big Trees" is a small town of Arnold. Here you will find many vacation rentals and cabins to choose from. Many residents here are second home buyers, who bring their families here to unwind and relax. One could say that there is plenty to do here for such a small area. Unspoiled beauty that surrounds this serene setting is everywhere, plenty of places to go and explore. If you travel east and in less than an hour away, ski Bear Valley. Better yet, in the Summer if you want to get out of the heat, there are numerous lakes to choose from for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, camping, or just taking an afternoon nap. A person can also explore the Calaveras Big Trees State Park which is located 3 miles above Arnold. If you prefer the more nature like setting, take a hike through the Stanislaus National Forest, there are designated trailheads for the enthusiast that prefers to stay on tract. Also, just 12 short miles west is a quaint little town of Murphys. Once here, you can wine taste at local wineries, shop Main Street, or you can even stop by and visit the Historic Murphys Hotel. Of course, there is plenty more to do, this just names a few.
Unlike the coast of California, Arnold has four definite seasons. Spring usually brings light rain showers with cool temperatures. Summers are hot, sunny and dry. Fall brings us cooler temperatures and vibrant colors. Personally, I enjoy traveling Highway 4 over Ebbetts Pass this time of year. The beauty is just breath-taking, and gives me thanks for being so fortunate to live in an area like this. A true statement referred to as "God's Country" is recognized here. Winters are somewhat mild with plenty of rain. Snowfall is often welcomed in Arnold and will linger for a while, but the greatest beauty is Arnold rarely, if ever, sees fog.
